William H. “Hi” Cross, Jr., of Lepanto, Arkansas departed this life on August 23, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 9, 1939 to William Hiram Sr and Virginia Portis Cross. He attended Castle Heights Military Academy, he attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and he graduated from Arkansas State University. While living in Lepanto he was a member of the school board, city council and a lifelong member of Lepanto United Methodist Church. Mr. Cross loved hunting, fishing, baseball and watching the New York Yankees. Hi Jr. worked with his father at Portis Implement Company in Lepanto, he was a founding partner of Grains Jamaica ltd Montego Bay Rice Mill, Owner of Hygrow in Jamaica and owner with his daughter of Cross family farms micro-greens in Jamaica.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
William is survived by his son: William H. Cross III of Lepanto, daughter: Jolly Cross of Nashville, Tennessee, two sisters: Annis Hill (Charles W.) of Little Rock and Portis Pleasants (Bob) of Lepanto and one grandchild: Thomas Cross Rushing of Taos, New Mexico.
Funeral will be held Monday at 2:00pm at Lepanto United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time.
Interment will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto.
Family requests that memorial be made to Lepanto United Methodist Church.
Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto is in charge of arrangements.
