Shirley Mae Spencer Brooks

Shirley Mae Spencer Brooks, Proverbs 3:15 “She is more precious than rubies.”  74, departed this life on Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on October 23, 1948 to Samuel E. “Bud” and Effie Mae Hawkins Spencer in Lepanto, Arkansas.

Shirley was a faithful servant of God.  She was a devoted, loving mama and GiGi to all her babies.  She loved her family, church family, and friends with all her heart.  She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, cooking, baking, sewing, a hot fresh cup of coffee, watching Bill Gaither Gospel Shows, Elvis Presley movies, old black and white movies and John Wayne westerns.  Shirley never met a stranger, she loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was tender hearted and would cry at the snap of a finger and always did her best to smile and look for the good in each and every day. She was always smiling, laughing and pointing others to the Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Robin Green, the Daddy of her children: Billy Brooks, two brothers: J.L. and Jerry Spencer, two sisters: Patsy Tucker and Carolyn Patterson.

Shirley is survived by one daughter: Janet Brooks of Rivervale, Arkansas, one son: Nathan Brooks of West Ridge, Arkansas, two granddaughters: Ariana Hudson of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Eva Green of Marie, Arkansas, one grandson: Zak Brooks of West Ridge, Arkansas, one great grandchild: Patrick (Pat Pat) Hammond of Marie, Arkansas, and one sister: Betty Moore of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. and visitation will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto, Arkansas

Interment will follow funeral service in Caraway Cemetery, Caraway, Arkansas.

Brother Tim Arquitt will officiate the service.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto, Arkansas.
