Robert “Bit” Johnson Jr., 82, of Etowah, Arkansas departed this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his home. He was born on August 27, 1939 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Robert Sr. and Violet Harvison Johnson. Bit served his country for 29 years in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War. Bit was a member of the Etowah Baptist Church. He was also the Etowah fire chief, a first responder and an auxiliary police officer. Bit enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Fred Johnson, Harvey Johnson, Bill Johnson, Enis Johnson and Grady Johnson and two sisters: Bonnie Fleming and Patsy Johnson.
Bit is survived by his wife of 31 years: Shirley Johnson of Etowah, Arkansas, one son: Donald King II and Shontell of Constantine, Michigan, two daughters: Sandra Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah and Dea Meloche of Gosnell, Arkansas, two brothers: Bob Johnson of Yorba Linda, California and Nathan Johnson of Greenville, Illinois, four sisters: Nora Ferguson of Etowah, Arkansas, Peggy Morgan and Kenneth of Etowah, Arkansas, Carolyn Moore and Wayne of Monette, Arkansas and Martha Jo Haas and Mike of Oceanside, California, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 20, 2022 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Etowah Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00a.m. at Etowah Baptist Church.
Interment will follow with Military Honors at Garden Point Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Delaney Funeral Home in Lepanto, Arkansas.
