Raymond Odis Johnson, 81, of Lepanto, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at St Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born on March 4, 1943 in Dyess, Arkansas to Odis and Mary Earlene Webster Johnson. Raymond worked hard all of his life. At the age of seven he was farming the lands of Dyess until he moved to Little Rock to assist in the success of Razorback Bumper where he worked as a steel bumper straightener for thirty plus years. He served in the Army from 1964-1966 and was a Vietnam War Veteran. His enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and just doing his outside daily chores. Family was so important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was the best husband, son, brother, dad, grandpa and Popeye. Raymond was a member of Central Baptist Church in Dyess. He made it his life to witness to as many lost souls that he could reach. He shared the love of Jesus and told everyone he could about what Jesus had done for him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son: Richard “Burt” Johnson, three brothers: Dorman, George and Edward Johnson, three sisters: Ethel Sanders, Wanda Cooper and Inis LaVelle Johnson, two grandsons: Matthew and Jeffery Thompson.
Raymond is survived by his wife of fifty-three years: Doris Ellen Bass Johnson, one son: Raymond Dwayne Johnson (Denise) of Bono, Arkansas, two daughters: Mary Constant (Rodney) of Lepanto, Arkansas, and Amanda Thompson ( Jeffrey Sparks) of Lepanto Arkansas, three brothers: Richard Johnson of Redfield, Arkansas, Floyd Johnson and Boyd Johnson, two sisters: Sadie Ainsworth (Herbert) of Redfield, Arkansas and Sherry Jewell (David) of Redfield, Arkansas, one daughter in law: Stephanie Johnson of Lepanto, Arkansas, seven grandchildren: Hailey Huffman(Taylor), Zachary Constant (Courtney Garner), Rachel Blansett (Otis), Ryan Johnson (Paige), Logan Johnson (Courtney Tucker), Nolan Johnson and Aiden Thompson, and two great grandchildren: Caroline and Harper Huffman,
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. and visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow funeral service in Caraway Cemetery
Brother Greg Smith will officiate the service.
