Pat Lawson Dailey, 79, of Marked Tree, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, January 16, 2017, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on June 22, 1937, in Tyronza, Arkansas, to Turmon and Iva Yewell Lawson.
Mrs. Dailey was a graduate of Marked Tree High School. She received three college degrees from Arkansas State University: a Bachelor of Science in Education in English, a Master of Science in Education in Reading, and a Master of Science in Education in Guidance and Counseling. Over the course of 41 years of teaching high school English and being an elementary and high school counselor, she influenced many lives and was known for her compassion and kindness. Outside of school, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree where she was a Sunday school teacher. She also served as Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America and was a recipient of the District Award of Merit. As a member of the Women's Progressive Club of Marked Tree, she served a term as president. Mrs. Dailey had a love of classic literature and enjoyed playing the piano.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Dailey is survived by her husband of 59 years Jim Dailey of the home, son James Patrick Dailey and his wife Sonya Dailey of Jonesboro, brother Sam Lawson and his wife Sandra Lawson of Germantown, Tennessee, and two sisters Doris Jean Hubbard of Marked Tree and Lynn Bouchard of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree, Arkansas.
Funeral service will be held Friday, January 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree, Arkansas.
Interment will follow at Marked Tree Cemetery.
Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree in charge of arrangements.
