Mary Catherine McMunn

Mary Catherine McMunn, 80, of Marked Tree, Arkansas passed away on July 10th, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones at St Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, granny/mamaw/meme, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary was born on May 7th, 1944 in Marked Tree where she spent her early years. She went on to attend Nettleton school district and graduated from there. After she married and moved back to Marked Tree, she became a paraprofessional at Marked Tree Elementary school for many years before retiring to enjoy taking care of her grandkids and great grandkids. Throughout her career, she was known for her passion for helping others, generous heart, love for children, hard work, and dedication.

But more than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother, and granny/mamaw/meme. She loved spending time with her family, sharing her love and faith in Jesus, as well as her church family. Mary could be expected to be first in the car rider line to pick up her great grands, and let the chain down for the buses to come through. She enjoyed cruising, watching Hallmark movies, and was Chicago Fire and PDs biggest fan. She was always there to lift you up in prayer, offer guidance, support, encouragement, no matter what challenge or praise worthy moment there was to face.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed crocheting, baking strawberry cakes, and banana nut bread for her family and friends. She loved her card group, playing phase 10, and making up new rules when necessary. Taco salads at the Marked Tree café was a weekly must have with friends. She will be missed by all who know her. 

She is preceded in death by her husband: William David McMunn, parents, one brother: Johnny Young and one sister: Willie Cullins.

Mary is survived by one son: David Scott McMunn and Sherry of Marked Tree, one daughter: Mary Ann Houchin and Billy of Payneway, one sister: Shirley Hogan of Jonesboro, four grandchildren: Holli Willis and Jason, Kristi Conner and Mitch, Seth McMunn and Brittany, Skylar Long and Zach, six great grandchildren: Graci Willis, Emma Boon, Riley Conner, Dylan Conner, Willow McMunn, Wrenlee McMunn, Jensen Long and Layton Long, several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday July 12, 2024, at 1:00p.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Marked Tree.

Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00p.m. until service time.

Interment will follow at Marked Tree Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey Funeral Home in Marked Tree.
