JOAN LAMB JUSTUS, passed away May 8, 2018 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on August 19, 1933 in Harrisburg, Arkansas and was the proud daughter of John and Pauline Lamb. She adored her brothers, Bobby, John, and Billy. She would say her best and most fulfilling accomplishment in life was raising her daughters Melody and Cyndi. There is a quote by Walt Whitman that says “You are so much Sunshine to the square inch!” and that is the best way to describe Joan! She was fun, optimistic, compassionate, resilient, kind hearted, encouraging, funny, and so very loving! Her smile was bright and contagious, making her a light wherever she went. She had a kind word for everyone she met. She was an inspiration to all she knew of a life lived with laughter, love, and kindness. As she lived with Alzheimer’s during the last 7 years, she continued to be cheerful, loving Joan, handling her condition with so much grace. Alzheimer’s is such a heartbreaking disease, but in the midst of it Joan still brought joy, love, laughter, and sunshine to those around her. When she would go to the senior center for a few hours to socialize, she would ask “what do I do there?” Cyndi would say “You are bringing the Sunshine, Mama!” And she always did!! We look forward to seeing her in eternity someday, not because she was such a good person, but because Jesus was her Savior. Don’t you know she is playing the piano for Him right now!
Joan is survived by her daughters Melody (Mark) McDaniel, Cyndi (David) Fischer, her brother Billy (Judy) Lamb, sister-in-law Betty Lamb, grandchildren Greg McDaniel, Matt (Brittany) McDaniel, Justus McDaniel, Benjamin Fischer, and Julianna Fischer, great grandchildren Alyssa, Andon, Makenna, and Easton McDaniel, River McDaniel, and Adlee McDaniel, many nieces and nephews and countless friends! She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Lamb, her daughter Susanna Justus, her brother Bobby Lamb, her brother John Lamb, her sister-in-law Mary Lamb, and her very dear friend Jim Schwinck.
A memorial service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Tyronza, Arkansas on June 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM. You are invited to wear pink (her favorite color) or bright spring colors. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Alzheimer’s research or to a charity of your choice. In honor of Joan, show kindness to someone EVERY Monday (or day of your choice) by giving a compliment, a hug, a smile, or doing something special.
