J.C. Lewis, 92, of Lepanto, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 18, 1926 in Trenton, Tennessee to Roy Lewis and Maude McDaniel Lewis.
He was a World War II Veteran with an honorable discharge after being shot in his leg in the Philippines. He received the bronze star and the purple heart. J.C. was an electrician for Oldsmobile, he owned a grocery store, retired from the United States Postal Service and drove a school bus for many years. He loved working outside mowing his lawn and planting in his garden. He and Ouida traveled in their motor home for many years with other family members. His strongest devotion was to his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 70 years: Ouida Hogan Lewis of Lepanto, one son: Rick Lewis of Lepanto, two daughters: Karen Bradshaw of Centerton and Judy Stem of Paragould, one sister: Ann Gibson of Jonesboro, five grandchildren: Karrie Arbuckle, Brent Bradshaw, Chase Stem, Chelsea Jennings and Lindsey Stem and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00p.m. at Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto.
Interment will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto.
