George Scott Carpenter died at his home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. He was born December 16, 1956 to George and Patricia (Freeman) Carpenter in Memphis, TN. Scott graduated from Lepanto AR High School in 1975 and attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He enjoyed a career as a technical salesman with Memphis Mobile Water Technology and also working in the family business, Wildwood Antiques, in Etowah, AR. He was a faithful member of Marion United Methodist Church. Scott was never without a book and shared his love of reading with family and friends - some using his shelves as a mini library. He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor and serve behind the scenes. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his daughters. He led his family with quiet strength and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cathy Hollowell. Scott is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Wildy Carpenter; daughters Katherine (Brad) McGraw of North Little Rock, AR and Laura Pace Carpenter of Fayetteville, AR; his sister Cindi (Reggie) Burch of Memphis, TN and brother Stan (Rebecca) Carpenter of West Memphis, AR. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Marion United Methodist Church at 11:00, with visitation at 10:00 at the church. Memorials may be made to Marion United Methodist Church, 81 East Military Road, Marion, AR 72364.
