Evalene Bennett Tarlton

Evalene Tarlton, 88, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Marked Tree departed this life on Friday, December 24, 2021 at her home. She was born on February 13, 1933 to Bassil and Elva Rogers Bennett in Marked Tree. Evalene attended Northside Church of Christ in Jonesboro. She was executive director of the housing authority in Marked Tree for fifty-seven years. During her time at the housing authority, she received several awards and recognition on the State and National level. She enjoyed music, singing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Doyle Tarlton, her parents, and her sister: Theresa Gill.

Evalene is survived by her son: L.D. Tarlton (Ann) of Marked Tree, her daughter: Julianne Layman of Jonesboro, four grandsons: Michael Layman (Kristen), Dwaine Tarlton (Brandi Rollins Holt), Mitchell Layman (Jessie Weaver), and Lance Tarlton (Mallory), six great grandchildren: Nash Layman, Riley Layman, Lilly Tarlton, Luke Tarlton, Lane Tarlton and Lynn Tarlton.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. and visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Marked Tree.

Interment will be private.

Pallbearers: Earl (Sonny) Thompson, Michael Ulmer, Larry Tarlton, John Layman, Greg Thielemier, and Michael Scott.

Mr. Ronnie Benson will officiate the service.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey Funeral Home, Marked Tree.
