David Merle Layman

David Merle Layman, 63, of Lepanto, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at his home. He was born on December 13, 1961, in West Memphis, Arkansas to Lynn Devere Sr. and Virginia Corley Layman. David served the citizens of Lepanto and Poinsett County for many years as a police officer, detective, firefighter, EMT and Dispatcher at Marked Tree Police Department. David had a servant’s heart and would always help those in need. He loved his dogs and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four dogs: Casper, Lady, Little Man and Minnie.

David is survived by one brother: Lynn Layman (Madelyn) of Imperial, Missouri, one sister: Tami Wyatt (Lonnie) of Lepanto, Arkansas, two nephews: Josh Wyatt (Jennifer) of Wynne, Arkansas and Jared Wyatt (Fallon) of Marion, Arkansas, three nieces: Laura Twidwell (Dave) of Arnold, Missouri, Danielle Layman (Hannah) of Belleville, Illinois and Ashley Underwood (Jay) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, three great nephews: Carson Wyatt (Cayden) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Ayden Layman of Arnold, Missouri and Camden Kientzy of Arnold, Missouri, two great nieces: Hadley Underwood of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Ahmani Layman of Belleville, Illinois, great-great nephew: Jobey Wyatt of Jonesboro, Arkansas and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 10:00a.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Lepanto, Arkansas.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00a.m. until service time.

Interment will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto, Arkansas.
