Charlsie Mae Simpson Hardin, 84, of Payneway, passed away December 4, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
She was born in Mississippi County Arkansas, July 26, 1933 to Charlie and Sarah Fisher Simpson. She attended Marked Tree Arkansas High School where she met her husband, Darrell Hardin. They were married January 6, 1950 at the First Methodist Church parsonage in Marked Tree. She worked for Farmers Gin and Supply in Payneway, Salant and Salant Company in Marked Tree, and retired from Singer Company in Trumann, Arkansas. She was one of the earliest members of Corner’s Chapel Baptist church in Payneway. She was always a faithful and supportive member until her illness. The original church was built on land donated by her father. She and her husband were known for their kindness and care of family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed decorating for every holiday especially Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell, of 67 years; sisters, Maudie Sears, Essie Himes and Nancy Johnson; brother, Pete Simpson.
She is survived by sisters, Hattie Kelly of Cour D’Alene, Idaho; Ann Dotson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Wanda Bolin of Corinth, Mississippi; brother, Larry Simpson of Payneway and her Aunt Ruby Brake of Heber Springs, Arkansas. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00pm at the Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree. Burial services will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery. Officiants will be Rev. Glen Hurst and Larry Loggin. Visitation will be at the Murphy Funeral Home Wednesday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and one hour before services.
