Charles Dean Gatlin

April 4, 1950 — February 10, 2025

Charles Dean Gatlin, 74, of Lepanto, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Monette Manor Nursing Home.

Born on April 4, 1950, in Lepanto to Tommy Bethel and Linnie Perry Gatlin, Charles was a true son of Arkansas—deeply rooted in his community and faith. A devoted member of the Church of Christ in Lepanto, he carried his faith not just in words but in the way he treated others—with kindness, humor, and an unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. Charles was an outdoorsman at heart, happiest when he was mowing the yard, taking long walks, or simply enjoying nature. He had a gift for making people laugh, always ready with a joke or a playful remark. To know Charles was to know joy—he never met a stranger, and his warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tommy Gatlin Jr.; two sisters, Peggy Riley and Joyce Raines; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Ann Gatlin.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Mack Gatlin of Lepanto, Larry Gatlin and his wife, Linda of Missouri, and Danny Gatlin of Jonesboro; his sisters, Thelma Hamzik and her husband, Ed of Michigan and Agnis Dye of Missouri; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Charles lived a simple but meaningful life, filled with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for the little things. His presence will be missed, but his spirit and the joy he shared will never be forgotten.
