Brenda J. Ward, 72, of Jonesboro, passed away on April 4, 2024, with her loving husband and children by her side.
Brenda was born in Armorel, Arkansas on April 28, 1951. She was raised in Tyronza and graduated from Tyronza High School in 1969. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ in Tyronza. Brenda's career, like herself, involved caring for others. She was a social worker for the Arkansas Department of Human Services for 34 years. As a social worker with
Children and Family Services, she ensured the health and safety of children in foster care. Whenever possible, she worked to reunite the children with their biological parents. In her retirement, Brenda volunteered at NEA Baptist hospital in Jonesboro as a Pink Lady.
Brenda had a large family whom she loved each one very, very much. Anyone that knew Brenda knows there was a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Oralee McBride Taylor and Robert Herschel Taylor, her foster-parents: Bernard and Pauline Shepard and, foster- brother: Clarence Durfee.
Surviving family include her husband: John Charles Ward, two sons: Paul (Stacy) Hindman and Kevin (Gina) Hindman, one daughter: Christie Bradley, six grandchildren: Ethan (Sydney) Hindman, Jordan Hindman, Austin Hindman, Tyler Bradley, Dillan Bradley, and Caroline Romano, one great grandchild: Elias Hindman, brothers and sisters include: Ray Taylor, Glenn (Ellen) Taylor, Danny (Kathy) Taylor, Gene Taylor, Larry Taylor, Pat Taylor, Kathy Riley Taylor, Louise McCorkle, Lisa Shepard, Winston Blanchard, Cleveland Blanchard, Ray Blanchard, Carl Blanchard, Diane Williams and Audrey Williams.
Pallbearers are Ray Taylor, Danny Taylor, Glenn Taylor, Jordan Hindman, Ethan Hindman and Austin Hindman. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Taylor, Tyler Bradley, Dillan Bradley, and Caroline Romano.
A funeral service will be held at Delancey Funeral Home in Marked Tree, Arkansas on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow funeral service in Tyronza Cemetery, Tyronza, Arkansas.
Brother Patrick Tucker will officiate the service.
