Billy Kenneth "Bill" Barnett

Billy Kenneth “Bill” Barnett, 88 of Marked Tree, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born on August 25, 1934 in Marked Tree to John B. Barnett, Sr. and Mary Louise Marvel Barnett.
Bill was a veteran and retired after 34 years of service in the Air Force and Arkansas National Guard. Following his military retirement, he was employed for 20 years as a dispatcher for the City of Marked Tree Police Department. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree.  Bill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved playing golf and watching Razorback basketball and football. (Most of the time!)

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Louise Young, Mae Jeanette Young, and Jimmie Brotbeck and one brother: John B. Barnett, Jr.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 36 years: Judy Corpier Barnett, of the home, one son: Kelly Howerton of Marked Tree, Arkansas, one brother: Bobby Joe Barnett of Jonesboro, Arkansas and one sister: Barbara Whitmire of Powhatan, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., February 15th at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree with Pastor Zach Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery. Visitation will precede services from 12:00 noon till time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Marked Tree.

Active pallbearers will be nephews: Greg Barnett, Richard Whitmire, Logan Creekmore, Trenton Creekmore and Cainan Hawkins and special friend: Orlando Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be the Marked Tree First Baptist Church Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff at NEA Baptist Hospital and Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro for their kindness and care for Bill during his stay with them.
